SAT 2002

Fifth  International Symposium on the
Theory and Applications of Satisfiability Testing

May 6-9, 2002
Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Note: the directions below have been changed since 24 April since we discovered that our original mapquest query gave incorrect directions.
There are several possibilities of travelling to the conference center. When planning your trip, please take into account the following:

By Car

The conference center is easily reachable by car as it between interstates I-71 and I-75. Parking is free; get details after you arrive.

From I-71 going South

Take the Taft Rd exit, exit number 3. (0.6 km). Merge onto William Howard Taft Rd. (0.1 km). Turn right onto Reading Rd. (0.8 km). Turn left onto Martin Luther King Dr E. (0.4 km). Turn right onto Vine (may also be called Jefferson). In one block (next light) turn left onto Goodman Drive. The conference center will be 100 yards up on the right. In the first map shown below, the conference center is in the southwest section of the northeast red rectangle (east campus). The second map below shows more detail.

From I-71 going North

A few miles south of Cincinnati I-71 and I-75 merge. After this point follow directions for I-75 going north.

From I-75 going North

While crossing the Ohio river move to the left lane. In about three miles exit at Hopple Street. The exit is on the left. The exit ramp merges with that for traffic leaving I-75 south: stay left. Turn left at the traffic light. Continue over the viaduct then up the hill and you will see the University of Cincinnati west campus entrances on the right. By this time you are traveling on Martin Luther King Drive. Continue straight on MLK down the hill then back up another hill until reaching the top. This is Vine Street (there may be a sign saying Jefferson somewhere because Jefferson joins Vine at this point). Make a left onto Vine. Go one block to Goodman Drive (next light). Make a right onto Goodman. The conference center is about 100 yards up on the right. See the maps below for more details.

From I-75 going South

Take the Mitchell Ave. exit, exit number 6, towards St. Bernard. (0.3 km). Bear left at the fork on the exit ramp. Turn left onto W. Mitchell Ave. (0.6 km). Turn right onto Vine St. (1.9 km). Stay on the road as it twists and turns, becomes Glenmary Ave. then Vine again until reaching Goodman Ave. This intersection will be about 1/4 mile after you pass the Cincinnati Zoo. Turn left onto Goodman Ave. The conference center will be on the right about 100 yards up. In the map shown below, the conference center is in the southwest section of the northeast red rectangle (east campus). See the maps below for more details.

From I-74 going East

Merge with I-75 South, stay in the right lane and exit at Hopple Street. The exit ramp is just 1/2 mile after the merge so pay attention. On the exit ramp get into the left lane when approaching the traffic light. This requires a merge with traffic exiting I-75 going north so pay attention. Make a left at the traffic light.

From the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

Start out going East on Airport Exchange Blvd towards Mineola Pike by turning left. (0.3 km). Turn right onto Mineola Pike. (0.4 km). Turn left to take the I-275 East ramp towards KY 236/I-71/I-75. (0.4 km). Merge onto I-275 E. (1.9 km). Take the I-71 North/I-75 North/I-71 South/I-75 South exit, exit number 84, towards Cincinnati/Lexington/Louisville. (0.4 km). Merge onto I-71/I-75 North Ramp. (1.2 km). Continue toward the Ohio river. While crossing the river move to the left lane. Stay on I-75 North (I-71 splits off around this point).

By Train

Cincinnati boasts intercity rail service. Trains arrive around 4 am on Wednesday morning, Friday morning, Sunday morning from Chicago. Trains arrive around 2 am on Tuesday morning, Thursday morning, and Saturday morning from the Washington D.C. area. The trains disembark from the Union Terminal Museum Center located about 3 miles from campus. You will need to take a taxi to campus but remember, you will be arriving very early! The cab ride will cost approximately $6 and take about 10 minutes.

By Plane

The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport is located in Northern Kentucky. As a Delta hub Cincinnati is easily accessible from most major cities in the United States and Europe. We will provide pickup if you notify us in advance (see above). It is possible to take a taxi to campus but this option is expensive so you might want to prearrange meeting other participants at the airport so you can share one. The ride will normally take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic and construction and should cost about $39 including gratuity (we can coordinate taxis to accomodate up to three arrivals at a time and the cost remains the same - more about this when we get closer to the commencement of the conference). Cincinnati is less than 2 hours away from a number of other regional airports including Louisville, Indianapolis, Columbus, Dayton, and Lexington. You might find airfares less expensive if you go through one of these locations but you will need a car to get you to campus.

By Bus

The Greyhound Bus Station is located about 3 miles from the main UC campus. You will need to take a taxi to campus. Taxis are usually located directly out in front of the bus station. If there is a shortage, they may ask you to share the taxi with another passenger. The cost is approximately $6 to campus and takes about 10 minutes.
