  1. The flickering problem of the previous example is fixed by means of double buffering. The idea is to draw everything in the background and then, when drawing is finished, to move the background image to the foreground. Since the latter operation is virtually instantaneous, the eye is fooled into believing that no time elapsed between frames (just like going to the movies).
